David's Daily Devotion for June 13

June 13, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, June 13.

Each Sunday evening our church family meets for a time of fellowship, praise and worship, testimony, prayer, and a Bible study from our interim pastor, Dr. Tim Watson. Last Sunday night, Bro. Tim's text was Matthew 13:1, a verse that I didn't remember hearing before. It says this - "And on that day, Jesus went and sat by the sea."

This little verse is situated during an extremely busy time in the life and ministry of Christ. He was constantly teaching great crowds, full of people clamoring for his attention. And he was constantly being confronted by the Pharisees and other religious leaders. Remember that Jesus, besides being the Son of God, was 100% human. And he was, no doubt, exhausted.

But in the midst of all of this, He found time to be alone, to be quiet, to sit by the sea. We're entering vacation time for most people. But sometimes trips can be as exhausting as our normal schedules. Jesus is teaching us the importance of taking time out, in the midst of our regular lives, to be alone, to be quiet, to listen for the voice of God.

Perhaps that was what Jesus was doing that day, as He sat beside the Sea of Galilee - listening for His Father's voice.

Psalm 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God... "

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
