June 15, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, June 15.
On June 15, 1976, something totally unexpected occurred - a Major League Baseball game was rained out. Not that unexpected, you say? Happens all the time, you say? Well, this particular game, called off for rain, was set to be played in the Astrodome - indoors!
The Astrodome was opened in 1965, becoming the first indoor baseball stadium. In 2023, there are many such arenas, but 60 years ago, Houston had something very rare. On June 15, 1976, a very rare weather event happened in Houston. Between noon and 7pm that day, over 13 inches of rain flooded the city. And rained out an indoor baseball game.
Anything unexpected ever happen in your life? Of course it has. And I can predict with some level of certainty that there are more unexpected twists and turns in your future. So, how do we face an uncertain future? Perhaps these words of the psalm writer can be our guide.
Psalm 31:14-15 - "I trust in You, Lord. You are my God. My future is in Your hands."
