David's Daily Devotion for June 17

June 17, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Friday, June 17.

I'm taking a day off today - my first in a while. It's been a busy time in our church lately. And we're thankful for that! The odd, eerie quietness of the church calendar during much of the pandemic period is giving way to more and more opportunities for ministry events and programs. To God be the Glory!

But, with that busyness, comes the responsibility to take time to refresh, replenish, restore, renew, revive. This idea is as old as the Creation story, with God, Himself, establishing the Sabbath, a day of reflection. In the New Testament, Jesus expanded this idea to include "days off". In Mark 6:31, He invited His disciples (and us) to "come away to a quiet place and rest."

I hope you can take some time for yourself today.

Meet you back here tomorrow, with a special Father's Day devotion about my dad.
