David's Daily Devotion for June 28

June 28, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, June 28.

On June 28, 1914, an historic event occurred that changed the world forever. Five thousand miles from the United States, a European arch-duke was shot and killed. The ripples from that moment triggered World War I, and five years later, when the war finally ended, the death toll had reached nine million - many of them young American men.

Today we still live in an interconnected world. A war in Ukraine affects gas prices and touches hearts everywhere. A school shooting in little Uvalde, Texas becomes a headline in newspapers around the globe. And a virus, that begins in China, changes life as we knew it.

We are connected. And that can sometimes be a positive, wonderful thing - especially when we consider the church with a capital "C", when we think about our brothers and sisters in Christ, scattered around the earth. I'm reminded of a contemporary Christian worship song - maybe you know it.

It's the song of the redeemed rising from the African plain
It's the song of the forgiven drowning out the Amazon rain

The song of Asian believers filled with God's holy fire
It's every tribe, every tongue, every nation, a love song born of a grateful choir

It's all God's children singing, "Glory, glory, hallelujah, He reigns!"
It's all God's children singing, "Glory, glory, hallelujah, He reigns!"

Meet you back here tomorrow,
