David's Daily Devotion for June 28

June 28, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, June 28.

Last week's Sunday School lesson was about Queen Esther and her adopted father, Mordecai. I encourage you to read through the Book of Esther this week - it's one of the most dramatic and inspiring stories in the Bible. They've made movies about it! And this short book, just 10 chapters, contains one of the most memorable verses in the Word of God. Esther 4:14 ends with this statement - "Perhaps you have come to royal position for such a time as this".

In this verse we see Esther, a Jew, in Persia, where the Jewish people are in exile. The Jews are in danger, and Esther, as queen, is in a position to save them. But it may be dangerous for Esther to take this action. Mordecai urges her to act, no matter the danger, because obedience to God is above all other concerns. He tells his adopted daughter that her position in the royal court, her opportunity to influence the king, is part of God's plan - in this challenging moment.

Take a moment today to look around your life. Where has God placed you? Who is in your "circle"? What talents, gifts, experiences has He given you . . . for such a time as this?

Ephesians 2:10 - "We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
