David's Daily Devotion for June 30

June 30, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, June 30.

My Daily Devotion is a little late going out this morning. We've been busy here at First Baptist preparing our bus and our van and our trailer, etc. Our kids are on their way to camp! Maybe you went to camp when you were young, or your children did. There are all kinds of new camps now - sports camps and science camps and space camps. But, one thing's the same - the kids are excited to go (and the parents are excited to see them go!) And they come back having learned some new things, some new songs, some new skills, and having made some new friends.

But there's nothing new about the idea of getting away. That idea is as old as the Bible. In Mark 6:31, Jesus says, "Come away with me. Let us go to a quiet place and rest for awhile". Jesus and His disciples had a new perspective and a new passion when they returned from that "camp." And when children and teenagers come back from church camp, many of them have a new relationship with God - or at least a relationship that's been strengthened, deepened, sweetened.

That's our prayer this morning... as our kids are on their way to camp!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
