David's Daily Devotion for March 20

March 20, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, March 20.

On March 20, 1928, it was a "beautiful day in the neighborhood," as Fred McFeely Rogers was born. Mister Rogers was a musician, a writer, a puppeteer, but he was also an ordained minister. And for 33 years, from 1968 to 2001, he was America's unofficial children's minister, as he hosted the TV show, "Mister Roger's Neighborhood."

The program, throughout its long run, never changed its format. As the theme song, "Won't You be My Neighbor?" began, Fred would come in, take off his suit coat and change into a sweater. After carefully hanging up the coat, he would sit and change from his dress shoes into a pair of sneakers, playfully tossing one from hand to hand. You are probably viewing this iconic scene in your mind, as I write this.

Fred Rogers never saw himself as a television star or a celebrity. He believed that his show was a ministry. Let these Mister Rogers quotes minister to you today.

  • There are three ways to success. The first way is to be kind. The second is to be kind. The third is to be kind.
  • When you think you're at the end of something, you're probably at the beginning of something else.
  • Attitudes are caught, not taught.
  • All I know to do is to light the candle that has been given to me.
  • Love begins with listening.
  • Loving your neighbor is a sacred act.

That last one reminds me of something. Oh yeah, Mark 12:31 - Love your neighbor as yourself.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
