David's Daily Devotion for March 21

March 21, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, March 21.

Last night, at First Baptist Center, our children competed in an exciting event, an event to qualify them to compete at a state level. The event? Bible Drill! You're probably familiar with this program. Maybe you grew up participating in it. I did.

Bible Drill has a history that goes back at least to the 1890's, and by the 1950's was a common ministry for children and youth in many churches. In the 21st century it's become much less common, and that's a shame, because it's a fun and effective way to teach the truth of the Word, and how to access that truth.

The kids at First Baptist Center were amazing last night, and none of the adults in attendance (including me) would have wanted to get up on the stage to compete with them.

Is the Word of God a familiar friend to you? Do you spend enough time in it to make you comfortable using it? The famous Bible Drill call of "Attention! Draw Swords!" reminds us that the Bible is our "Sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17), a tool and a weapon to lead us through this dark world. Spend some time in God's Word today - you'll be blessed.

Attention! Draw Swords!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David,
