David's Daily Devotion for March 28

March 28, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, March 28.

This is the fourth devotion, in a five-part series focusing on what Jesus was doing each day during the week that we now call Holy Week.

Final words are important. You want your final words to be memorable. You want your final words to outlive you. These final words have lived on -

  • "It is very beautiful over there." - Thomas Edison
  • "Swing low, sweet chariot." - Harriet Tubman
  • "All is well." - George Washington
  • "The comedy is ended." - Ludwig Beethoven

On Thursday of Holy Week, we find Jesus and the disciples in the Upper Room. They have just finished the Passover meal - the Seder - and Judas has departed to fulfill his dark destiny. And now Jesus begins to teach, begins to prepare these men, begins to share His final words. Here are just a few of them.

  • I am the Vine, you are the branches.
  • I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
  • Greater love hath no man than this, than to lay down his life for a friend.
  • A new commandment I give to you, love one another.

And there are so many more inspiring thoughts. You'll find them in John 13:31-16:33. It would take you about a half-hour to read this passage. What a great way to commemorate this Thursday of Holy Week. What a great way to remember His final words.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
