David's Daily Devotion for March 31

March 31, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, March 31.

On this day in 1994, basketball superstar Michael Jordan signed a contract with a new team - the Birmingham Barons minor league BASEBALL team! In a move that shocked the sports world, Jordan retired from the Chicago Bulls at the peak of his basketball career. He had made 9 straight all-star teams, had won 7 straight scoring titles, and was coming off his third straight championship. He gave it all up to play baseball. Go figure!

Jordan ended up hitting a disappointing 202 average and had his problems in the field. Sanity finally prevailed and, after a single season on the diamond, he returned to the court and picked up right where he left off, winning three more championships. For Michael Jordan, it was all about being who he was meant to be. No one has ever played basketball like him. He was destined for it. He was created for it. It was his purpose in life.

What's your purpose? What did God create you for? What is His plan for your life? These are questions that each of us has to try to answer. Finding that answer is one of the most important keys to a happy life. There have been a few times in my life when I was "playing minor league baseball". Times when I went against God's plan for me, His calling. And I was miserable. Each of us has a divine purpose and God will reveal it to us, if we'll just pay attention, if we'll just listen to His "still, small voice".

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
