What are the best selling books in history? The novel "Don Quixote" is said to have sold 400 million copies and Charles Dicken’s "A Tale of Two Cities" 200 million. The "Harry Potter" book series tops out at 500 million and my favorite novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird", has sold 40 million.
But all these book sale records pale in comparison to The Book. It is estimated that, in history, there have been 5 billion Bibles sold. That’s 5000 million! And it doesn’t stop there. The Bible is also the book that is most often given away. And, interestingly, the book that’s most often stolen. On a negative note, The Bible has been banned from reading more than any other book.
Take your own inventory. How many Bibles are in your house? How many have you owned over your lifetime? Or maybe now your Bible is online, at sites like Bible Gateway and Bible Hub.
But do you read it? Do you cherish it? Do you “hide its words in your heart”? The Bible is a treasure. And you have complete access. Open The Word today!
