David's Daily Devotion for September 1

September 1, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, September 1.

Bro. David is on vacation this week and he's reprinting some favorite devotions. This one originally ran on October 1, 2021.

When I was a young Christian my youth group did a lot of street witnessing. We would go house to house, or out to a shopping mall or to a park and approach strangers with the gospel. We’d have something else with us, too - a gospel tract. Something to put in their hand, something to go over with them if they agreed to talk, something to leave with them if they didn’t. We would always have tracts with us, in our pockets, in our back packs, in our wallets or purses.

Not many people do that kind of witnessing anymore. But I bet you have a tract in your wallet or purse right now. Sort of. If you have some paper money or some change (what my dad always called “silver”) then you have something that contains these words... In God We Trust. That‘s our National Motto and since 1957 it’s been stamped on every thing that comes out of the US Mint. I’m not suggesting you use a dollar bill as a witnessing tool, although it would probably be an interesting experience. But maybe, when you hold some money in your hand it can be a reminder. A reminder that, even though our culture is less Christian every day, our nation’s roots sprang from Christian ideals and America’s foundation was laid upon God... in whom we still trust.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
