A Few Words from Melba Williams

January 27, 2015 - Melba Williams, a long time Shelby County resident, came into the office of Shelby County Today and had a few short shorties she wanted to share with Shelby County Today readers.

Good Hunting

You may need to be on the look out for this gun toting "grand-ma-ma" who is looking for game. Having an abundance of lizards, snakes, and small creatures around my home in the pine trees in "good old East Texas" a solution has been found for these pest. A "Bee Bee" gun, one that shoots straight, like hit the bull's eye always, will take out any of these creatures around my house.

Don't be surprised tho, I am Todd Williams mom. Todd grew up to be an African Big Game hunter and has killed the big five. Remembering in the early days, I could take out an armadillo with a .22 pistol in one shot. Also, I was his competition at the ever popular Turkey shoots here in East Texas, laying flat on my belly. "Good Hunting" in your senior year. Mom, as a hunter, I told you it was fun."

Bee Safe

This is an article for you ladies who are afraid to be inside or outside alone. Don't be, there is a solution to that fear. You don't need a gun unless you just want to have one (and that takes some preparation to have); a black and white can of wast spray is a fine defense for us ladies who are a little scared. A good strong spray in the face of someone who is trying to harm you will do the trick! It is perfectly legal and will be much better than having a hammer in your car or a pistol on your body and so much cheaper. Be Safe!

Note from Editor: Research online concerning using wasp spray as a means of self-defense yielded mixed reviews. Concern was addressed to whether it would be illegal to use the wasp spray in a manner different than its intended use - to kill wasps or hornets. Also, due to its chemical contents, it is unknown if it would cause long term damage to anyone sprayed with it whereas pepper spray has temporary side affects which disable an assailant without the likelihood of causing permanent damage.
