The Golden Harvest Ministries Club

October 20, 2015 - The Golden Harvest Ministries Club met on Oct, 19, 2015 in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church .  Joe Anderson gave the opening prayer and welcomed everyone.  Alice West had two visitors with her, Ronny and Connie West.  Harold Hanson, back from a good trip, led the singing while Alice West played the piano.  We sang “Heaven came down and Glory filled my Soul” and “What a Friend we have in Jesus.”  Vance Green and Mary Ivy both had a birthday this month and we sang Happy Birthday to them.  Vance Green asked the blessing on the food.  Several people commented on how good the food tasted.

Before we finished eating Linda Bordelon started the program by telling how much Mike and she enjoyed being retired in Shelby County .  There are so many profitable things to do.  They told about one of their endeavors, Dutch Oven Cooking.   The Dutch Oven Society is a state and national organization but in this area it is called the Toledo Bend Dutch Oven Cookers.  They meet the 3rd Saturday of each month.  They start cooking at 9:00 and have food on the table at 12 noon.   Mike Bordelon gave a lot of information as to the size and shape of the Dutch Oven Cookware.  He told how to control the temperature, how to line the pot if you want to bake and what to use to create the heat.  Many people wanted to add bits of information.  Mike’s pictures of people cooking and eating at Bole’s Field were of interest to everyone.

We had the minutes of the last meeting and a Treasurer’s report.  Ed Miller gave a report on the last trip.  Joe Anderson told about the Christmas Cantata and made mention of table decorations and gave announcements. Ann Forbes presented the Prayer Report.  There were a number of serious needs for us to pray about.  Ed Miller led us in a closing prayer.
