Jackie Kirkwood Seeks Re-election for Justice of the Peace Pct 4

December 28, 2021 - I would like to announce my intention to seek the Republican nomination for re-election as Shelby County Justice of the Peace for Precinct Four. I have served Shelby County as the Justice of the Peace since the summer of 2018. Since taking office, I have attempted to represent the citizens of Precinct Four with honor and integrity. It has been an honor and a pleasure to work for the citizens of Shelby County and I hope you will support my desire to continue to serve as the “people’s court” judge for another four-year term.

The Justice Courts have original jurisdiction involving fine-only Class C misdemeanor offenses, hear disputes regarding evictions, handle truancy cases for school districts, and civil lawsuits involving controversies up to $20,000. The Justice of the Peace also serves as coroner and conducts inquests upon a death. The Judge also serves as a magistrate at the jail and issues warrants.

As your Judge, I take these responsibilities seriously and to the best of my ability perform my duties with fairness, compassion, and follow the rule of law. I know that I work for the citizens of Shelby County and will strive to represent the office of Justice of the Peace with the ethics needed to maintain the reputation the office deserves. I want to make sure the Office of Justice of the Peace remains available and accessible to every citizen of Shelby County Precinct Four.

As a candidate for re-election for the Republican Primary on March 1, 2022, I encourage everyone to vote. I invite you to stop by for a visit at the office of JP4 anytime.
