Judge Swears in Ramsey, Skinner on Council, Smith as Mayor

May 23, 2016 - Timpson Municipal Court Judge James Bogue swore in newly elected mayor Debra Smith and council members Yvonne Ramsey and Al Skinner at the May 17, 2016 Timpson City Council meeting.

Once all newly elected members were sworn in, the meeting moved forward. Marilyn Corder, representing the Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce, addressed the council about assistance with planning for Frontier Days. A motion carried to accept the proposal from the chamber.

Timpson Police Chief Kent Graham was recognized for having been with the department for six years.

Kyle Allen was voted in by the council as the mayor pro tem and immediately following, the council went into executive session to consult with the city attorney about contractual issues.

When the meeting returned into open session, no action was taken relating to executive session, and a motion carried to approve the consent agenda items.

A motion carried for a Resolution of Authority for all Austin and Texas State Bank Accounts, adding Debra Smith, mayor, and Kyle Allen, mayor pro tem, to noted accounts also removing Ronnie Wolfe's name from those accounts.

A motion carried to approve the repair of 12 fire hydrants, miscellaneous repairs and the replacement of one hydrant in the city by Hydra Tec at a cost of $7,022.81.

A motion carried to approve a supplemental agreement for license audit no. S051272 covering underground 8-inch encased sanitary sewer on Railroad Property at Mile Post 166.44. Payment, in the amount of $1,505.00 was due and is payable upon completion of the agreement.
