January 13, 2016 - I announce my candidacy for the position of Shelby County Attorney. I stand for Christian values, family values, integrity, conservatism, and I have always run for office as a Republican.
The job I currently hold as the elected Shelby County District Attorney is important, and I have worked in that office since 2009. However, I believe that the office of County Attorney is also very important.
The job of the County Attorney is to be the legal advisor to the County Judge and the Commissioner's Court, and to advise other officeholders in the County. The County Attorney also handles cases involving neglected children, and prosecutes the misdemeanor criminal docket. I am well-trained and experienced to handle all of these duties.
Throughout my career, I have handled both civil and criminal matters, including trials and appeals. I have advised clients on civil legal issues and negotiated contracts. My experience in criminal matters ranges from traffic tickets, up to and including, capital murder trials and appeals. Additionally, I have handled cases involving neglected children.
I humbly declare that I am ready to assume the duties of Shelby County Attorney, and to advance our county in a new generation of leadership. Thank you.
