National Weather Service Heat Advisory

July 23, 2018 - The National Weather Service, Shreveport, LA issued at 6:04am Monday, July 23, 2018, a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of north central Louisiana, northwest Louisiana, east Texas and northeast Texas.

Today and tonight... a Heat Advisory is in effect from noon until 7 PM CDT this evening for portions of East Texas and Northern Louisiana. Hot temperatures combined with high humidity will result in heat index values between 105 and 108 degrees this afternoon. If outdoor activities are planned, make sure and take frequent breaks, drink plenty of liquids and move activities into the shade if possible.

There is also a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and this evening, mainly south of a line from Jacksonville Texas to Winnfield Louisiana. Any storms that develop will be capable of gusty winds and dangerous cloud to ground lightning.

Tuesday through Sunday... after some slightly cooler weather, afternoon heat index values may once again climb above 105 degrees Friday through Sunday.

Chances for thunderstorms will return to the forecast during the weekend as a cold front moves south across the Plains.
