Roughrider Academy Hosts Commencement Ceremonies for Winter Class of 2022


Roughrider Academy Graduating Class of 2022

February 2, 2022 (Photo Album) - Roughrider Academy held commencement ceremonies for the Winter class of 2022 on Thursday, January 20, with 14 graduates receiving their diploma.


Kael Wilson gave the invocation for commencement ceremonies.

Kael Wilson provided the invocation followed by Heath Hagler, Director, who introduced the school board saying, “They all are very supportive of what we do and we are very appreciative of everything they do for Roughrider Academy.” Thanks was also given to Superintendent Dr. Brian Morris and Assistant Superintendent Jake Henson. “Roughrider Academy is a very special place. We are very, very blessed to have this school. Without all these people, our campus would not exist. Because of their vision, their support, their commitment, this program continues to grow and flourish. Anytime we have needs, Dr. Morris and the School Board are quick to act and supply us with whatever we require. Because of this, we are extremely grateful.”

He also recognized key members of the Roughrider Academy team and the District: Shelly Norvell, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Response to Intervention; Carey Agnew, Director of Special Services; Inez Hughes, Director of Federal Program; Byron Miller, Director of Special Program; Richard Miller, Director of Technology; Amanda Clark, Center High School Principal; Lee Masterson, Elementary Principal; and Officer Pete Lowe.

Final appreciation was given to the teachers and the staff of Roughrider Academy, “Their hard work, determination to see our student succeed is amazing.” Teachers are Virginia Fischer, John Jackson, Erica Klein, and Jody Stephens. Instructional support team is Beatriz Contreras Mendoza and Dustin Bennett. Campus Counselor is Cindy Tillery.


Frank Parker with the Roughrider Scholarship Foundation

Frank Parker, a representative with the Roughrider Scholarship Foundation, presented scholarship to four students, “I’m honored to be here with these graduates. This is a wonderful milestone and accomplishment with these guys, never forget it… This money is intended to help you get to that next level of education in your life. You’ve certainly earned it and Congratulations!” Graduates receiving the scholarships were Julissa Hernandez, Kensie Killen, Damya Rector, and Kael Wilson.

Bone Hill Foundation Scholarships were also presented to the same four graduates: Hernandez, Killen, Rector, and Wilson.
