Shelbyville Lions Club Installs Welcome Signs on Hwy 87 South

September 25, 2016 (More Photos) - Since being organized in October of 2012 the Shelbyville Lions Club continues to grow and show their support for the Shelbyville community. Last week club members spent their Monday and Tuesday evenings installing welcome signs on State Highway 87 South.

The first sign was installed Monday across from the youth baseball and softball fields for northbound traffic to see. A second sign was installed Tuesday evening on the southbound side of the road for travelers coming into Shelbyville from Center. The two teams each connected the large metal poles to the sign frame before raising them to set into the ground with concrete.

The signs say - The Shelbyville Lions Club welcomes you to Shelbyville, home of the Shelbyville Dragons, State Basketball Champs Class 2A 1982 & 1984, State Baseball Champs Class 2A 1988.

Thank you to the property owners for allowing the sign to be installed on their property and to Ricky Lout who constructed the frames. Thank you to Rusty Jones for the use of his tractor and for assisting the Lions with installing the signs. Thank you to Farmers State Bank and Shelby Savings Bank for donations towards the purchase of the signs.
