Sheriff's Department Makes Theft of Service Arrests in Joaquin

January 10, 2024 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed the arrest of four individuals for theft of service in Joaquin on January 4, 2024.

According to Lt. Chad Hooper, the Sheriff’s Department received a complaint from the City of Joaquin that their water meters and gas meters had been tampered with at a residence in Joaquin.

All four of the individuals lived in the residence located in the 100 block of FM 2787, and they were arrested.

According to Shelby County Jail booking information those arrested and their charges include Amos Bergeaux, 49, theft of service >=$2,500 <$30,000, state jail felony; Christine Stephens, 42, theft of service >=$2,500 <$30,000, state jail felony; Dorvel Williams, 56, theft of service >=$2,500 <$30,000, state jail felony; and Tycus Boyd, 62, theft of service >=$2,500 <$30,000, state jail felony.

Joaquin Mayor Jessie Griffith thanked the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and Constable Precinct 3 for getting there quickly once it was reported and helping put an end to the theft. Mayor Griffith encouraged anyone that knows of similar thefts to contact law enforcement and report such incidents.
