Superior Healthplan Presents $5,000 to Outreach Ministries

April 10, 2019 - Rachel Thompson, a Community Ambassador for Superior Healthplan, presented a $5,000 donation to Shelby County Outreach Ministries (SCOM) on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available to participating Superior providers and community organizations focused on promoting the health and well-being of the communities Superior Healthplan serves.

Thompson explained, "We are a managed care company. We provide Medicaid services for those in Texas. We do cover the entire state of Texas and here in the northeast part of Texas we actually do the Star Chip and Star Health programs. We are very, very fortunate and proud to be able to work with so many agencies that do serve the communities that are most in need. Truly, we are very proud that Shelby County Outreach Ministries has gotten this and its so important that we partner with the agencies that are doing the most work in the communities to help those who are less fortunate.

"The grant money is part of a corporate initiative that we have which is to assist communities that we serve. So, it is from Superior Healthplan. We do have an application process that can be found online at superiorhealthplan.com. It is a wonderful opportunity and we do this quarterly. We share $5,000 quarterly with agencies who serve the community."

Thompson did also advise there is a grant program available to participating Superior providers which is separate from the community agency grant money. For the second quarter of 2019, the grant deadline is June 28, 2019 and the application can be found at https://www.superiorhealthplan.com/providers/resources/provider-programs/provider-grants-program.html or contact SHP.Grants@SuperiorHealthPlan.com with any additional questions.
