Taqueria Los Girasoles New Member Ribbon Cutting

November 1, 2016 - Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, community members, family, and friends gathered for the new member ribbon cutting for Taqueria Los Girasoles on Friday, October 21.

Chamber Executive Director Pam Phelps thanked everyone for attending and congratulated the restaurant's owner, Manuel Leon on the renovations. Phelps recalled many years ago when the location was a small neighborhood grocery store and commented on the changes to the building.

She then offered Andi Foster, the president of the Ambassadors, an opportunity to say a few words. Foster expressed her appreciation saying, "On behalf of the Shelby County Chamber Ambassadors we extend our appreciation for you becoming a chamber member and opening your doors to our community today." Foster finished by saying the Chamber and its Ambassadors are there to help when needed.

Manuel Leon introduced his staff, many of who are also his family, Maria Leon who is his mother, Martha Leon and Rosario Leon who are his aunts, Virginia Garcia, Diana Solis, Pablo Valdez, and Nayeli Gonzalez.

Leon also said they are willing to take special orders, if you are wanting something and it's not on the menu, just ask, "Most of my family, we like to cook, so we just decide to open up a restaurant, my aunt and my mother." Phelps interjected saying, "So, a family tradition and share it with the public."

Following the ribbon cutting, those attending enjoyed samples of beef tacos served with onions and cilantro, pinto beans, delicious salsas, and authentic Mexican Horchata drink.

Taqueria Los Girasoles is located at 181 US Hwy 96 North in Center and open from 9am until 10pm except on Sundays which is 9am until 4pm.
