Two Injured in Late Night Ambulance Crash

May 10, 2016 - An ACE EMS ambulance traveling back to Center on State Highway 7 collided with a tree late Monday night, May 9, 2016 causing injuries to the crew inside.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Taylor Buster, at 11:55pm Jonathon Walker, 36, with passenger Kayla Williams, 23, was traveling east on SH 7 just west of Martinsville in an ACE EMS ambulance.

Walker became fatigued, fell asleep at the wheel and the ambulance left the roadway to the right where it struck a tree. Williams was ejected from the vehicle and Walker remained trapped inside.

Williams called 9-1-1 and began checking on her partner and trying to get a response from him while he was pinned in the ambulance. Both Williams and Walker were later transported by Nacogdoches EMS to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Williams was treated and released and Walker remains in the ICU.
