July 11, 2018 - The primary job of a host family is to be a primary point of contact for a team/parent/coach. They will be part of the delegation to welcome teams at Friday's check in at the Civic Center and help them through the tournament.
Some ideas include: attending games and cheering on your team when possible; staying in touch with parents/coaches; answering questions about places to eat, things to do, places to do laundry.
July 6, 2018 - The Center Water Utility is experiencing lower system pressures this morning. A water plant line repair initiated yesterday is taking longer than anticipated leaving the Pinkston Plant off line since early yesterday morning and resulting in lower than usual tank levels that control system pressure. The work is being completed and system should return to normal levels of operation later this evening. No system health notices are issued at this time but will be should pressures drop to the point they would be required.
June 15, 2018 – Baseball tournament season is upon us and hundreds of players and their families will soon arrive in Center, Texas. The district tournament will be from June 22 through June 25; the State tournaments will be June 29 through July 19.
The tournament program books will be available for all participants as mementos. This is a chance for local businesses to highlight their goods, hours or special deals to tournament guests.
June 18, 2018 - The City of Center and Center Youth Baseball are excited to announce the 2018 Dixie Regional World Series will be hosted in Center from Friday, July 20 through Monday, July 23.

The City of Center and Center Youth Baseball are excited to announce the 2018 Dixie Regional World Series will be hosted in Center from Friday, July 20 through Monday, July 23.
Last October, the City Council created a committee to start the process of soliciting the World Series. Unlike the other baseball tournaments hosted, the bid is not a financial commitment, but rather what can the community offer during the event.
May 24, 2018 - Fairview Cemetery, established in 1901 as the second cemetery in the City of Center, will be the site of a Texas Historic Marker Dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Present will be Center's Mayor David Chadwick, with members of the Center City Council, and members of the Shelby County Historical Commission (SCHC). The SC Historical Commission will be dedicating the marker and the site's historical significance to the City of Center.
November 13, 2017 - The City of Center Public Water System, PWS #2100001, will be conducting water system maintenance beginning January 1, 2018, and lasting until January 31, 2018. The system will be switching to free chlorine as its main disinfection.
This maintenance which is not a requirement, but is the recommended course of action set by the TCEQ/EPA for the accumulation of disinfection byproducts.
November 14, 2017 – The City of Center will be hosting, with the assistance of Pineywoods Resource Conservation & Development, a household hazardous waste disposal event this Saturday, November 18th, between 9 am and 1 pm at the Windham Civic Center parking lot. All Center residents are encouraged to bring accepted items for disposal at no cost
November 6, 2017 - Residents Can Dispose of Many Hazardous Items
The City of Center is hosting the Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Disposal event on Saturday, November 18, 2017, from 9am to 1pm, at the Windham Civic Center.
“Center residents are encouraged to bring hazardous waste items to this event,” said Center City Manager Chad Nehring. “These items are not supposed to be disposed with normal trash and collected by our solid waste provider and go into the landfill.”
