March 7, 2017 - State Troopers responded to a fatal crash on US 84 Tuesday morning. This is the fourth fatal crash in the Joaquin area over the past 11 days for emergency personnel to work.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety, a single vehicle crash occurred Tuesday morning, March 7, 2017. DPS was dispatched to the crash scene at 6:15am on US 84, one tenth of a mile west of CR 3790.
March 7, 2017 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 49 indictments involving 27 individuals on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. The grand jury was impaneled for the January 2017 term of the 273rd Judicial District Court.
March 6, 2017 - According to the Shelby County Jail arrest book, the Sheriff's Department arrested Lisa Renea Cordova, 50 of Joaquin, for the charge of murder. She was booked into the jail at 2:15am, March 6, 2017.
March 4, 2017 - The Tenaha Tigers defeated the Italy Gladiators 92-67 in Region 3 Semi-Final game to advance; however, the Gladiators come away heroes of the game with an inspiring display of sportsmanship.
March 2, 2017 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Department has received multiple calls concerning cows in the roadway on SH 87 North of Center in the area near the intersection of CR 1464 and CR 1470.
Officers respond to remove the cattle from the highway only to later receive another call the cows have traveled back into the roadway.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Department is trying to locate the owner of the livestock so they may be advised where their cattle are, please contact the Sheriff's Department at 936-598-5600.
March 1, 2017 - Participants of the Walk and Talk Nutrition and Fitness Program gathered at the old Center Elementary School Gym on Nacogdoches Street to kick off the 8-week program with a nutrition tip followed by a Zumba class.
