April 1, 2016 - Shelbyville ISD Elementary School is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair starting April 11th. New this year is the book fair is on-site and online!
The Online Book Fair will last from March 30th through April 19th at any time of day! The online allows for students to create wish lists to send to family and friends, buyers can shop teachers' classroom wish list, shop an expanded selection of books and purchase books online. All orders will ship direct to school for FREE when the Online Fair has ended.
April 11, 2016 - What began two weeks ago with the selection of a jury came to an official conclusion Monday, April 11, 2016 in the case of the State of Texas versus Johanna Vickers, a teacher found guilty of an improper relationship with a 16-year-old student, in the 123rd Judicial District Court with Judge Charles "Brick" Dickerson presiding. Judge Dickerson handed down the formal sentencing which was decided by a jury and Vickers was taken into custody of the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

The event will be held for the first time at the John D. Windham Civic Center. It will be an evening of relay with the Survivor Dinner at 5pm until 7pm, Opening Ceremony at 7:15pm, Luminaria Ceremony at 9:30pm, and Closing Ceremony at 11pm.

April 4, 2016 - According to a Facebook post on Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, the Registration and Titling System is currently unavailable and it is unknown if the system will be back up before the close of today's business.

April 2, 2016 (Photos: Album1, Album2)- Children up to the age of 10 participated in Green Acres of Center's Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, March 25th at the Center City Park. Green Acres' volunteers littered the playground area all the way to the spray ground area with Easter eggs giving the park a colorful makeover.
Update 11:53pm - A hazard material management team is finishing with cleaning up the diesel spill. The tanker truck has been uprighted and emergency responders are working to clear crash debri off the roadway. The fire department is still assisting with traffic. The majority of the roadway is back open to traffic. Please continue to use caution if traveling through the area.
