March 18, 2016 - Following the press release from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department concerning the IRS Scam, Shelby County Today received an email from one it its viewers, Andy Stevens. He reported the next day receiving a call which threatened a lawsuit instead of arrest and wanted to warn others.
Andy Stevens reported, "I got a computer generated call this morning from 360-362-4728 saying they are the IRS and they have begun a lawsuit against me. Unless I call them back they will continue the suit. Please people, be aware that such calls are a SCAM!"
March 18, 2016 - There will be two extra dumpsters at Commissioner Pct 3 barn on Saturday, March 19, 2016 for household flood damage debris from 9am-4pm and there will be someone there to help with putting items in the dumpster.
The Commissioners' Court voted during their Thursday meeting to approve the extra dumpsters for this Saturday and intend to make them available again in the near future.
March 17, 2016 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors attended a new member ribbon cutting for John Michael Burns Insurance, on Tuesday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m.
March 16, 2016 - Joaquin Mayor Bill Baker announces the American Red Cross will be at the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department station with clean up kits at 10am Saturday, March 19th for those affected by the flooding.
March 15, 2016 - The Center Fire Department helped EMS personnel extricate a man from his truck following a two-vehicle collision Thursday, March 10th at the intersection of Hurst Street and Nacogdoches Street.

Update 3/11, 10:20am - CR 2582 at New Harmony Church - Culvert washed out has been repaired, ROAD OPEN
March 10, 2016 - Precinct 2 Commissioner Jimmy Lout reports having to close another roadway in his precinct; CR 2582 at New Harmony Church has a culvert which has washed out. The other road closure is CR 2110 off of SH 87 South due to a bridge washing out.
