TEA Commissioner, Texas Governor Announce Students to Return to Classrooms in the Fall

June 18, 2020 - According to an article in The Texas Tribune, Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner Mike Morath confirmed Texas school will return to the classroom in the fall in a conference call with sate lawmakers Thursday morning, June 18, 2020.

Morath and Texas Governor Greg Abbott both say it is safe for Texas public school students, teachers, and staff to return to school campuses for in-person instruction. Guidance for the 2020-2021 school year will be released in the coming weeks by TEA.

SCT Viewer Warns of Publishers Clearing House Scam

June 17, 2020 - Shelby County Today received an email from a viewer reporting they had received a scam call and they wanted to share their experience to warn others.

Evelyn Adams received a call on June 17th from someone claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. She didn't answer the call and let it go to voice mail. The number was 876-366-6627 and the caller said he was Larry Davidson. He wanted to talk to me about "a blank million dollar prize plus a bonus of $175,000 cash," and to call or message him back.
