Shelby County Grand Jury Indicts 12 Cases; One Case Presented on Information

December 3, 2024 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 12 indictments on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The grand jury was impaneled for the July 2024 term of the 123rd/273rd Judicial District Courts.

Christopher Lamar Pleasant was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony. The indictment alleges, on July 7, 2024, Pleasant recklessly caused bodily injury to Crystal Fenley by striking her in the head with a stick, knocking her to the ground, and then choking her. Richardson Street in Joaquin Focus of HAZMAT Cleanup Efforts

November 28, 2024 - Richardson Street in Joaquin is the site of an alleged illegal dumping incident and authorities are seeking details on those responsible.

According to Joaquin Mayor Jessie Griffith, used cooking grease was discovered on November 27, 2024, and authorities with TCEQ were contacted.

Mayor Griffith reports, a cleanup operation is ongoing and is expected to take days to complete.

County Road 4855 Open to General Traffic

November 14, 2024 - Commissioner Bellmyer reports the work on County Road 4855 has been complete and the roadway is now open to general traffic.


November 12, 2024 - Tom Bellmyer, Commissioner Precinct 4, announces the closure of County Road 4855 due to a culvert washout Friday, November 8. 

The road is closed 1/2 mile off FM 1970 allowing for a turnaround and access is available off Rosehill Road.

CR 4855 is expected to be closed today November 12, 2024 and will hopefully re-open late November 13, 2024.
