September 12, 2017 - Start testing out your Chicken Recipes for the 41st Poultry Festival Cooking Contest sponsored by Tyson Foods. Chicken dishes can be grilled, baked, fried, in a casserole, in a dip – any way you love to cook and eat chicken. The Chicken Cooking Contest is open for participation in three categories: Youth (ages 8-13), High School Youth (ages 14-17) and Adult (age 18 and above). Trophies and cash prizes are presented to the winners in each category.
September 7, 2017 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce announces the Chicken Cooking Contest, sponsored by Tyson Foods. On Super Wednesday, September 27, 2017 immediately following the 41st East Texas Poultry Festival Doo Dah parade, sponsored by Center Tire Company. The event will be held on the east side of the historic downtown Center square. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move to the active Shelby County Courthouse community room.

August 14, 2017 - The deadline to apply for an Arts and Crafts vendor booth at the 41st East Texas Poultry Festival, sponsored by Farmers State Bank, has been extended to Friday, September 1. The festival will take place October 5-7 on the historic downtown Center Square. Limited spaces are still available and the applications are being accepted at the Shelby County Chamber office. Gold Sponsors for the Festival are City of Center and Tyson Foods.
August 22, 2017 - The Public is invited to attend an Open House on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 11am until 1pm at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Offices new location in the Old Elementary School Library at 266 Nacogdoches Street in Center.
The AgriLife Extension Service partners with individuals, businesses, clubs, organizations and other government agencies to bring researched based educational opportunities to Texans.

August 2, 2017 - The East Texas Poultry Festival is just around the corner in October, so now is the time to start lining out your creative arts to be displayed and eligible for judging. All creative art divisions are open to elementary, youth and adult participants who reside in Shelby County.

July 19, 2017 - Planning is underway for the 41st East Texas Poultry Festival presented by Farmers State Bank, which will take place October 5-7 on the historic downtown Center square, with chairmen Josh Payne, leading the steering committee. According to Polly McKissick Montemayor, Arts and Crafts Committee Chair, vendor applications are being accepted at the Shelby County Chamber office until Friday, August 11.
