January 8, 2015 COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Funds are now available for forest landowners near the Sam Houston National Forest through the Joint Chiefs’ Landscape Restoration Partnership.
This partnership between USDA Forest Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Texas A&M Forest Service looks to improve forest health and resiliency on the Sam Houston National Forest and surrounding private forestland.
January 6, 2015 - U.S. Forest Service fire personnel will soon begin controlled burns in the national forests and will continue the burns during the next few months.
Despite recent rainfall, the forest is still recovering from the summer drought and controlled burning dramatically reduces the chances of a wildfire spreading out of control.
