Seal Coat Projects Beginning in Lufkin District

March 3, 2020 Lufkin – A pre-construction meeting was held Tuesday at the Lufkin District office signaling the beginning of a project that will include sealcoating various roads throughout the district. Crews will begin setting barricades on March 30 with work scheduled to begin April 20.

D.I.J. Construction, Inc., Bertram TX, will serve as contractor for the $9.5 million project that is expected to be completed in June, weather permitting. A seal coat extends the life of a roadway by sealing the pavement structure from infiltrating water.

Child Passenger Safety Certification Course Being Held in Lufkin

February 11, 2020 Lufkin – A Child Passenger Safety Certification Course will be held in the Lufkin District February 18-21 that will help those wanting to be certified as a safety technician gain certification in how to properly install and inspect a child safety seat.

The certification class will be held in the Lufkin Texas Department of Transportation, 1805 North Timberland Drive, Lufkin, TX 75901. The cost of the class is $95.

Traffic Signal in Use on SH 103 East Bridge During Repairs

November 15, 2019 - A temporary traffic signal has been placed for traffic control as work begins at the SH 103 East Bridge over Lake Sam Rayburn to repair erosion at abutments caused by flooding earlier this year.

Signals are placed at each end of the bridge in Angelina and Nacogdoches counties to allow one lane of traffic to cross the bridge as work is being done. The signals are expected to remain in place until spring, 2020, when the project is slated for completion.
