Shelby Savings Bank Announces Updated COVID-19 Drive-Thru Hours

April 23, 2020 - In an effort to enhance our social distancing practices, Shelby Savings Bank will be instituting shift work with teller staff. We will be temporarily closing the drive-thru at 4:30 p.m. each day.

The two Center locations will be temporarily closed on Saturdays.

Please know that our San Augustine, Hemphill, and Palestine Branch locations will continue to operate normal Saturday hours. We apologize for any inconvenience. Our goal is to continue providing the highest level of service to you, our valued customers.

April Butterfly Release Recognizes Child Abuse Awareness Month

April 22, 2020 - Since 2012, the Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center has hosted a Butterfly Release during the month of April to recognize April as Child Abuse Awareness Month.

In the past the Butterfly Release has been held at 4:30pm which is why this story was posted today at this time. April 22nd was the planned day for the 2020 Butterfly release, however, COVID-19 has caused so many community events to be cancelled which is why Shelby County Today released these electronic butterflies on the Around Town page.

Timpson Food for Thought Pantry, Senior Box Program

April 22, 2020 - Timpson Food for Thought Panty April distribution is Friday, April 24th from 9am until 11:30am for a drive through distribution at 715 North 2nd Street in front of First Baptist Church.

Joaquin Senior Center Extends Closure Thru May 29

April 22, 2020 - The Joaquin Senior Center will remain closed through Friday, May 29. During and after that time, we will reassess.

Center MS Teachers Celebrate Birthday Together

April 21, 2020 - Although Coronavirus is interrupting the lives of so many, Center Middle School teachers didn't let that stop them from celebrating the birthday of one of their work family members.

CMS teachers created a drive by birthday celebration on Monday, April 20th for 8th grade teacher Gladys Andrews. Andrews described her surprise, "My CMS friends circled my driveway, horns blowing, waving posters and leaving a big box of goodies. It was a birthday I will never forget. CMS teachers are the best."

Piney Woods Photographic Society Invites Community to View Online Submissions

April 14, 2020 - Just didn’t want to leave anything up in the air. To comply with Social distancing The PWPS (Piney Woods Photographic Society) will not be holding their regular monthly meeting this month. But there will be an online challenge “Double Up” of photographs submitted by members featuring reflections of their choice.

Women on the Go Club March Meeting Cooking with Herbs

April 14, 2020 – Michele Clark, representative with the Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA) presented the Cooking with Herbs program at the Women on the Go meeting hosted by AgriLife Extension on Wednesday, March 5, 2020. Clark’s program involved properly growing a variety of herbs and using herbs for cooking and making homemade herb mixes.
