March 6, 2018 - Firefighters from five different area fire departments came together Saturday morning, March 3rd to participate in training on vehicle extrication. Extrication, or the act of removing an injured patient from a wrecked automobile, is one of the most critical services that rural volunteer fire departments perform.Having a hydraulic rescue tool (aka "The Jaws of Life") is a vital asset to a community. Equally valuable is having personnel who are properly trained in using that equipment.

March 5, 2018 - March This week Center Garden Club recognizes an early harbinger of spring, the spectacular pastel pink-white tulip tree (a member of the Magnolia family) which has been in full bloom since mid-February on the front lawn of 210 Field Street, the lovely home of Shirley and Jimmy Andrews. According to Mr. Andrews, the tree is more than 29 years old as it was in place when they purchased the house in 1989. Those who saw this tree in its prime, laden with delicate blossoms, certainly experienced a wonder of nature!
March 5, 2018 - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors are excited to announce Deborah Chadwick is the new President for the Chamber.
March 5, 2018 - On February 14, Center Garden Club (CGC)enjoyed an interesting and most informative demonstration and discussion of the principles underlying various types of creative designs, including under-water and abstract designs. The program was presented by Betty Eddleman, Nell Anderson, and Pam Sykes who are both club members and National Garden Club-certified flower show judges.

February 28, 2018 - An observance in honor of those who served in Operation Desert Storm was held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Veterans Memorial on the grounds of the Historic Courthouse. Post member Shane Fenley placed the Memorial Wreath in honor of the day.
February 27, 2018 - We would would like to express our sincere gratitude to our family, friends and neighbors for all of the love and support we have been shown during the devastation and total loss of our home and vehicles. The generosity of our community is overwhelming and humbling and has helped us tremendously.
We could never say thank you enough. We are so blessed to call Shelby County our home with such amazing people that come together in times of need. We have seen it time after time but it never ceases to amaze us.
