Brazos Bend State Park Hosts ‘Explore Bowhunting’ Event Rescheduled for February 24

February 2, 2024 - The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Community Archery Program is joining forces with Brazos Bend State Park on February 24, 2024 to help the public “Explore Bowhunting.

The event gives participants an opportunity to learn more about hunting with a bow ahead of the upcoming archery season for white-tailed deer.

February 2, 2024 - An estimated one in four female deaths is caused by heart disease, which is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. It’s important for women to be aware of the risk factors, signs and symptoms of heart disease.

“Women present with any combination of shortness of breath, tiredness, pain in neck, jaw, throat, upper back pain with or without activities,” said Interventional Cardiologist Gary Barkocy, D.O., FACC, FSCAI.

February 2, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, February 2.

February 2nd... that's Groundhog Day! At 6:30 this morning, the little furry rodent came out of his house and (drum roll please) he did NOT see his shadow! That means we'll have an early spring! Or maybe it's the opposite. I can't keep it straight. Rodent weather predicting is a complicated thing.

Temporary Detour Scheduled for Repairs

February 1, 2024 – Crews have scheduled maintenance on a temporary detour in Nacogdoches County that will cause SH 21 at Atascosa Creek to be closed on February 6.

The SH 21 East temporary road closure is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 7 am, weather permitting, as crews perform maintenance work on the detour pavement. Work is scheduled to be completed by 5 pm. Motorists can detour westbound on FM 95 and eastbound on FM 226 as pavement repairs are made.
