September 2, 2021 - When Moses sent the twelve spies on their reconnaissance mission to the Promised Land, 10 came back with a negative report. They said that they saw giants in the land and they were in their own sight as “grasshoppers”. They viewed their ability to take the land only in their own human strength. It was Joshua and Caleb who realized that taking the land depended not on their human strength but the power of God.

1. COVID-19 antibody treatment center opens in Nacogdoches

Transportation Commission Approves District Construction Projects

September 2, 2021 – Texas Transportation Commissioners met Tuesday in Austin and approved more than $1.3 billion in construction projects statewide, with more than $38.3 million approved for the Lufkin District. In addition, maintenance contracts were approved for more than $29 million statewide, with more than $1.4 million approved for the Lufkin District.

Hospital Partners with City, State, County to Bring COVID Infusion Treatment to East Texans

Free monoclonal antibody treatment reduces need for hospital stay 

September 1, 2021 – In its ongoing effort to lead the community through the COVID-19 pandemic, Nacogdoches Medical Center has teamed with the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the City of Nacogdoches and the County to administer the COVID-19 monoclonal antibody infusion treatment in individuals 12 years of age and older. The treatment reduces the risk of patients needing to be hospitalized or becoming severely ill with COVID-19. 

$477,786 in Grant Funds Available for Prescribed Burning to Central, East Texas Landowners

September 1, 2021 – Texas A&M Forest Service is accepting grant applications to offset the cost of prescribed burning on private lands for Central and East Texas landowners through September 30, 2021.

$477,786 in grant funds are available for eligible landowners conducting prescribed burns on their property by certified and insured prescribed burn managers. Last year, the grant programs provided $376,162 to landowners for a total of 15,094 acres treated.
