TSTC Ranked First In Texas Among Two-year Institutions

August 31, 2021 - Texas State Technical College, which has 10 campuses statewide, has been ranked first in Texas and third nationally among two-year institutions by Niche.com, an online market leader focused on education.

TSTC received high marks in six categories: diversity, location, professors, safety, student life and value. The technical college was lauded for its 100% acceptance rate, its average $10,237 yearly tuition and the more than $6,699 in yearly average financial aid awarded.

SWEPCO Sending Crews to Support Hurricane Ida Recovery

August 31, 2021 – Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) is sending crews to assist other utilities which sustained heavy damage from Hurricane Ida.

“Just as we had help from our American Electric Power sister companies and many other contractors in past storms like Hurricanes Laura and Delta, we provide assistance to other utilities,” said Drew Seidel, SWEPCO vice president of Distribution Region Operations. “Working through a mutual assistance network, we have been asked to provide approximately 200 distribution line and support personnel to Entergy Louisiana.”

“It's Not in the Dictionary” by Neal Murphy

August 27, 2021 - The computer age has thrown me for a loop.  I made better grades in school with my courses that involved words and their meaning.  This has continued into my adulthood. I purchased a rather large Webster's dictionary many years ago. It is large, containing two volumes with thousands of words therein.  Anytime that I need to find the correct spelling of a word, I consult it.  I have used it for many years.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Special Meeting on CWD Set for Sept. 15

August 27, 2021 — The Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPW) Commission will hold a special meeting on proposed rules related to Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).  Earlier this year, the discovery of CWD in six  deer breeding facilities necessitated the filing of emergency rules in an attempt to stop the further spread of this disease.  Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) staff has been working with Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) and numerous stakeholder groups to develop rules that will ultimately replace the emergency rules.
