November 8, 2024 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, November 8.

In Mark 8:11-13 we find these words - “The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test Him, they asked for a sign from heaven. Jesus sighed deeply and said, ‘Why does this generation ask for a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to it’. Then He left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.

Ford to Serve as Grand Marshal of Santa’s Christmas Parade

November 7, 2024 - J.J. Ford will serve as Grand Marshal of the Annual Santa’s Christmas Parade. The parade, presented by HR Group, LLC, will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Sponsor for the Grand Marshal is Dazzle Me Pink & Blue.

J.J. Ford was the recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Service Award and was recognized at the annual Shelby County Chamber of Commerce awards banquet for her contributions in and around Shelby County.

November 6, 2024 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, November 6.

I usually write these devotions the day before they’re sent out. I stayed up past my bedtime last night to watch election coverage, but when I finally went to bed, the result was still in doubt. So, I’ll focus on another election. On this date, in 1860, Abraham Lincoln became the president of the United States of America.

November 5, 2024 - It was an ordinary school day in 1948.  My classmates and I were in our second grade class room at Hemphill Elementary School in Hemphill, Texas. Since I was in the second grade, I probably had on a dress that was made from chicken feed bags sewed together by my maternal grandmother, Mam Howell.  Had I a clue that this would be a special event day, I probably would have worn a “church” dress. Our teacher was Verna Thedford on this particular day.

USDA Reminds Farmers and Ranchers to Vote in Committee Election

December 2 is the Last Day to Return Ballots

November 4, 2024 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has started mailing ballots for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committee elections to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country. To be counted, ballots must be returned to the Angelina-Nacogdoches-Trinity-San Augustine-Shelby County FSA office or postmarked by December 2, 2024.
