CMS Beta Club Members Participate in CASA 5K

October 5, 2015 - CMS Beta club had over 50 middle school participants in the Casa 5k chicken run on Saturday October 3. Lance Holloway received 2nd place and Dayton Bush got 3rd in the 10-14 age category. Congrats and great job to all who participated!

Poultry Festival Wrap-Up from Center Ag and FFA

October 5, 2015 - This past Saturday 97 student exhibitors from across the county participated in the 38th annual Poultry Festival by exhibiting their pen of "3 birds". Students began 6 weeks ago with 30 newly born chicks in hopes of feeding, watering, and growing them better than the rest. After 6 long weeks of working hard, students (with help of teachers and community members) picked 3 of the best (biggest) birds to show at Poultry Festival.

CMS Homecoming Week

October 5, 2015 - To show pride during homecoming week, students of Center Middle School are encouraged to dress up for theme days. Please ensure that all outfits are in compliance with the school dress code.

Thursday - Professional Dress

Roughrider Stadium Seating and Protocol Changes

September 24, 2015 - Beginning this week, at Roughrider Stadium as the Roughriders take on the Hardin Jefferson Hawks, students in grades 8-12 will be welcomed to come show their school spirit and cheer on the Riders in the new Student Section.

The Student Section will be located in what has been the band section. The CHS Band, “The Pride of Shelby County,” will be moving to the main stands adjacent to the reserved section.

Roughrider Cross Country Places 1st

September 28, 2015 - Varsity boys did it again! On Saturday, September 26th the cross country teams traveled to Palestine High School for the annual Dogwood Invitational. Two girls ran and did amazing being led by Cheyenne Byrnes who placed 27th with a time of 14:40 and a PR.

Center Band Boosters Thanks Port-A-Cool

September 25, 2015 - The Center Band Boosters would like to thank Port-A-Cool for sponsoring the concession stand. Come out on Friday, September 25th for some Roughrider football, great concession stand food and to visit with Port-A-Cool employees. All proceeds from concession stand sales benefit the Center Band Program.

Center Graduate Hired as Rusk District Superintendent

September 25, 2015 - During the regular board meeting Monday night, West Rusk County Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved hiring Lawrence Coleman, a 1987 Graduate of Center High School, as the district’s new superintendent. Coleman agreed to a three year contract effective July 1, 2016.

Oh What-a-Night Fundraiser

September 23, 2015 - Join us Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Whataburger in Center and we'll donate 25% of sales to Center Intermediate 4th grade dine in and drive thru.

Center High School FFA Pecan Fundraiser

September 16, 2015 - Pecans are $9.95 for a 1lb. bag of pecan halves, and $9.00 for a 1 lb. bag of pecan pieces. To order, contact Valerie Anthony at the CHS High School Front Office at (936) 598-6173.

All orders and money are due by October 7 and pecans will arrive back to the school for pick-up the week before Thanksgiving.

No orders will be taken without payment. No orders will be taken after October 7th.

Center HS Cross Country Team Competes at Hallsville Invitational

September 11, 2015 - The Center HS Cross Country varsity boys earned 1st place out of 28 teams (1A-4A) at the 4th Annual Hallsville XC Invitational Meet held Friday morning, September 11, 2015 in Hallsville.

In the 5K race, Giovani Angel placed 3rd out of the total 235 runners. Ruben Soto placed 9th followed by Arnol Escobedo who placed 11th.
