Sheriff's Department Issues Statement Regarding Inga Lout

October 14, 2022 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Department issued today the following statement regarding Inga Lout of Shelbyville.

Statement: On October 12, 2022 at 9pm, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office began searching for Inga Lout, who was reported missing by her family. Lout’s family stated that she left her home at 5:45am on October 12 to travel to her place of employment in Center.

Declaration of Disaster and Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning

October 12, 2022 - WHEREAS, the County of Shelby is under imminent threat of severe damage, injury of loss of life or property resulting from the threat of wildfires due to extremely dry grassland fuel, drought and other weather-related conditions; and

Voter Registration Deadline Tuesday (Oct. 11th)

October 10, 2022 - The last day to register to vote in the November 8th general election is Tuesday, October 11th. This deadline also applies to any changes that need to be made to your current registration.

You can go to www.votetexas.gov to do this, or you can go to the Shelby County Courthouse Tax Office on the first floor.

Joaquin VFD Reports 6 Calls, Training Day

October 10, 2022 - It was high volume week for the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department with another 6 calls. In addition to the emergencies, there was also a day of training with several of Shelby County’s finest. Here’s a summary of the weeks events.

Starting early on Sunday morning, the EMR team would be dispatched to a lift assist at a residence on Highway 84 East. It would later be discovered that this call was for a DOA.

Barcenas, Pharris Named Top Runners in 11th Annual Chicken Trot

October 8, 2022 (Photo Album) - With 101 total registered entries in the 11th annual Chicken Trot 5K, a large group took to the streets of Center to achieve their goal of improving their personal best or finishing their first 5K. The overall male runner was Omar Barcenas of Center with a time of 18:55.78 and the overall female runner was Emily Pharris of Shelbyville with a time of 20:06.40.
