Local Officials Release COVID-19 Update: No New Cases or Recoveries

August 12, 2020 - The Shelby County Emergency Management office reports as of 8:35am on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, TxDSHS has reported no new cases and the cumulative case count remains at 401. The death count is 14 for Shelby County. (The DSHS website dashboard shows 18 deaths for Shelby County as of Aug 5th.)

According to the state's algorithm to determine recoveries, no new recoveries were reported over the weekend and the total of recoveries remains at 333. The number of active cases is 54.

August 11, 2020 - The Shelby County Emergency Management office reports as of 7:30am on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, TxDSHS has reported 4 new cases raising the cumulative case count to 401. The death count is 14 for Shelby County. (The DSHS website dashboard shows 18 deaths for Shelby County as of Aug 5th.)

According to the state's algorithm to determine recoveries, 17 new recoveries were reported over the weekend and the total of recoveries is at 333. The number of active cases is now 54.

County Judge Allison Harbison Joins Virtual Luncheon with Legislators Event Featuring State Sen. Robert Nichols

August 10, 2020 - Shelby County Judge, Allison Harbison joined several county elected officials from the region on July 29 for an online video conference with state Sen. Robert Nichols.

The Texas Association of Counties (TAC) organized the event at the request of county officials from Nichols’ Senate District 3. These luncheons are usually held at a local venue, but because of COVID-19, TAC hosted the event virtually through an online platform.

August 10, 2020 - The Shelby County Emergency Management office reports as of 7:00am on Monday, August 10, 2020, TxDSHS has reported 4 new cases raising the cumulative case count to 397. The death count is 14 for Shelby County. (The DSHS website dashboard shows 18 deaths for Shelby County as of Aug 5th.)

According to the state's algorithm to determine recoveries, 20 new recoveries were reported over the weekend and the total of recoveries is at 316. The number of active cases is now 67.

Center City Council Regular Meeting Agenda, Aug. 10

August 7, 2020 - The Center City Council will meet in Regular Session on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at Windham Civic Center. The following items are on the agenda for appropriate action: 
I. Welcome Guests and Visitors. H.

II. Approval of Minutes of the Workshop and Regular Meetings on July 27, 2020.

III. Public Hearings:
A. Ordinance 2020-10 Allowing Use by Right of Existing Structures in C-1 District.
B. Proposed Tax Rate.

ETPF Queen Activities, Coronation Postponed

August 7, 2020 - The Coronation and the month long series of activities for the East Texas Poultry Festival Queen’s Pageant has been postponed.  

The Princesses and their escorts participate in a number of fun social events as well as several mandatory rehearsals over the course of four weeks. Due to the circumstances at this time, the Committee felt in order keep all participating students, parents and committee members safe, the pageant has been postponed.  

It has not been cancelled.

August 7, 2020 - The Shelby County Emergency Management office reports as of 8:30am on Friday, August 7, 2020, TxDSHS has reported 7 new cases raising the cumulative case count to 393. The death count is 14 for Shelby County. (The DSHS website dashboard shows 18 deaths for Shelby County as of Aug 5th.)

According to the state's algorithm to determine recoveries, no new recoveries were reported and the total of recoveries remains at 296. The number of active cases is now 83.
