January 18, 2017 - A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 96 occurred just north of the Center Country Club on January 17, 2017 causing major injury to one driver.

The Center Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of the crash and used Jaws-of-life to extricate one of the drivers.

January 17, 2017 - The City of Tenaha’s Regular Scheduled City Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2017 will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 5:15pm at Tenaha City Hall.

January 12, 2017 - A Shelby County grand jury for the January Term 2017 of the 273rd Judicial District Court met Tuesday, January 10, 2017 and indicted 39 cases.

Barnard Jackson was indicted for injury to a child, elderly or disabled individual, third degree felony. The indictment alleges, on February 9, 2016 Jackson caused bodily injury to an individual 14 years of age or younger, by striking the individual with a blunt object causing a laceration to that person's right hand.

January 12, 2017 - A third individual has been arrested in connection with a beating and kidnapping which allegedly took place on December 13, 2016.

January 10, 2017 - On January 9, 2017, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system The City of Joaquin, PWS ID (2100010) to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to the presence of contaminants or an interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.
