November 13, 2024 - Four Shelby County non-profits were awarded grants from the John Harris Community Fund held at East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF) in Tyler, Texas. On September 11, 2024, the four groups: Shelby County Outreach Ministries, Inc., Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center, Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library, and East Texas Food Bank meet with ETCF representatives for a check presentation inside the Historic Courthouse.
November 1, 2024 – Texas Transportation Commissioners on Thursday approved more than $1 billion in new construction projects statewide, with more than $15 million earmarked for the Lufkin District.
Houston County was approved for a $13.1 million construction project that will resurface SL 304 in Crockett from just east of SH 21 to just west of SH 19. Texas Materials Group, Inc., Cedar Park Tx, will serve as contractor. No timeline for completion has been set.
October 30, 2024 - On October 23, 2024, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of Tenaha public water system, no: TX2100002, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
October 15, 2024 - On October 10, 2024, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Paxton public water system, 2100012, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to low water pressure which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
