Coach David Schmitt Going to Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill

May 19, 2020 - David Schmitt is on the move after leading the Shelbyville Dragons to three straight state tournaments and an outright title in the 2018-19 season.

This past season, Shelbyville was given a special trophy for making it to state but not getting to play due to COVID-19 causing the cancelation of the season.

Schmitt will be the new athletic director and boys head basketball coach for Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill. The Red Devils are coming off of an 18-14 season.

Annual Take a Kid Fishing Tourney Cancelled

April 21, 2020 - Organizers of the annual Center Broadcasting Co./Shelby County Bass Anglers’ Take a Kid Fishing Bream Tournament, that was scheduled for May 9, announced this week, the event has been cancelled, with no plans to re-schedule this year.

Tournament director Lori Alvis says in light of the recent COVID-19 social distancing, and orders from the Sabine River Authority, the 42nd kid’s fishing tourney will not take place on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend at Huxley Bay Marina on Toledo Bend.

Joaquin Lady Rams Varsity Starts District Play with 2 Shutout Wins

March 12, 2020 - Joaquin Lady Rams Varsity are 13-1 on the season and 2-0 in district with 2 shutout wins against Douglass and Cushing.  

Chloee Throws Shutout As Joaquin Lady Rams Defeats Cushing

Chloee Mason had all the right stuff on Tuesday for Joaquin Lady Rams Varsity, allowing zero runs and besting Cushing by a score of 10-0. They secured the victory thanks to six runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Ebbie McCann and Mason, a home run by Madison Baker, and an error on a ball put in play by Kennedy Stanley.

March 5, 2020 - Tenaha ISD shares the District 22-AA All-District Selections for the 2019-2020 Basketball season.

Offensive Player of Year:  Meagan Johnson - Senior, Woden, Hannah Hawkins - Senior, Woden

Defensive Player of Year: Laiton Braddock - Senior, Timpson

Martial Arts Students Win 1st Place Trophies at Louisiana Governor's Games

March 4, 2020 - Self Defense America attended the Louisiana Governor's Games in Shreveport, LA on February 29, 2020 in the Shreveport Convention Center. Ten students went and competed to test their skills. Everyone worked real hard and came back with a total of five 1st place trophies and numerous medals. The event had several categories which were: Forms (Kata), Kumate (Sparring), Weapons, Chanbara (sword fighting) and Grappling.

Tenaha Tigers Regional Tournament Information; Early Release Friday

March 4, 2020 - The Tigers advance to the Region 3 AA Tournament to be held March 6th and 7th in Bryan, TX. The Tenaha Tigers will take on the Grapeland Sandies, Friday, March 6th, at 6pm. The Tigers will be the visiting team. Winner advances to Game 3 to be held on Saturday, March 7th at 1:00pm.

Tenaha ISD will release at 11:30 am on Friday to allow for travel time.
