Shelbyville HS Senior Hagan Crumpton is 23AA Lincoln Douglas State Champion

May 27, 2021 - Hagan Crumpton began competing in academic UIL at the high school level as a freshman. He competed in Lincoln Douglas Debate, Persuasive Speaking and Current Issues and Events. At the district level, he placed 5th in persuasive speaking and 1st in Lincoln Douglas Debate. At Regionl III – AA, he placed 6th in Lincoln Douglas Debate.

In 2019, he competed in Current Issues and Event, Lincoln Douglas Debate and Persuasive Speaking. He was the district champion in Lincoln Douglas Debate, 2nd in Persuasive Speaking and competed at regional in these two events.

Last year, he competed at practice meets in Current Issues and Events, Persuasive Speaking and Lincoln Douglas Debate. He placed 2nd at region in congress and was a finalist at the state competition.

This year he is the 23AA Lincoln Douglas Debate district champion, was a member of the 2nd place Current Issues and Events Team, and placed 2nd in Persuasive Speaking. At the Region III – AA Academic Meet, he placed 3rd in Lincoln Douglas Debate and 3rd in Persuasive Speaking. He placed first at region in congress and was a finalist at state. He competed at the 2A Academic UIL Speech State Meet in Persuasive Speaking and Lincoln Douglas Debate. He is a member of the 3rd place State Speech Team, placed second in Persuasive Speaking and is the 2A Lincoln Douglas Debate 2021 State Champion.
