Bobby Eugene Oswalt, 82, of Huxley, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, in Huxley.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Chris Welch, Bro. Michael McArthur, Bro. Rusty Hall, and Bro. Gordon Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery in Huxley.
Mr. Oswalt was born October 28, 1936, in Huxley, to Jimmy Aaron Oswalt and Agnes Joy Davis Oswalt. Following high school, he moved to Orange. There, he met and married Wilma Essl and together they had three sons. While in Orange, Mr. Oswalt owned and operated general stores in Orange and Winnsboro. After Wilma passed away, Mr. Oswalt moved back to Huxley and later married Annette Dingler. The two began farming and he also worked as a commercial hay bailer for over forty years. More than anything, Mr. Oswalt enjoyed spending time with his family and teaching his children and grandchildren family values and a good work ethic.

Willie Jarrell, 91, of Lufkin, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, in Lufkin.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. A private family interment will be held following the visitation at Strong Cemetery in Huxley.
Willie was born October 4, 1927, in Evans, Louisiana, to Henry Clark Jarrell and Maggie Inez Whitehead Jarrell. He was a brother to seven other siblings. Willie served in the United States Navy for thirty years and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He served in World War II and Vietnam, and was also deployed in many other battles. Willie loved to hunt, but is favorite place to go was to the lake to fish. Always surrounded by his family and friends, he put his family first and helped his family grow; a loving father, husband, and an extraordinary man who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Jarrell of Lufkin; children, Michael (Janna) Jarrell, Carolyn McLean Sheree (Robert) SoRelle, and Bobby (Julie) Jarrell; grandchildren, Brian Jarrell, Roxy (Caleb) Slayton, Susan (Chase) Dawson and Amanda (Jason) Mayer; great grandchildren, Jacquelynn Jarrell, Sydnee Mayer, and Tyler Mayer; sister, Barbara Grubbs; brother, Delbert Jarrell; many numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Preceding him in death his parents and sisters, Penny Wilson, Lela Herrington, Loleta Williford, Drucilla Nichols, and Joyce Dewbre; son-in-law, Chuck McLean.

Joe Clyde Smith, Jr., was born July 18, 1991 and passed at the age of 27 in Nacogdoches, Texas on June 24, 2019.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 10am to 12 noon. A funeral service starting at 2pm on First Assembly of God, Houston Street and Highway 59, Timpson, Texas 75975. He will be laid to rest at his family's private cemetery.

Dan Husband, 70, of Joaquin, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019, in Logansport, Louisiana.

Mr. Husband was born August 14, 1948, in San Augustine, to Neil Husband and Hyburnia Wade Husband. He was a member of Joaquin Masonic Lodge #856 and First Pentecostal Church of Joaquin.
He is survived by his brothers, Dave Husband and John Husband, both of San Augustine; nephew and nieces, Neil Husband of San Augustine, Sheila Husband of Diboll, and Keisha Husband of Broaddus.
Preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Husband; parents, Neil Husband and Hyburnia Wade Husband; and brother, Buck Husband.

Benjamin Ray Touchstone, 76, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on June 27, 2019 in Shreveport. He was born on January 6, 1943 in Shreveport to William Moore Touchstone and Dorothy Thurmon Woodruff. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Willow Grove Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Jones officiating. A visitation will be held from 1 PM to 2 PM on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Mangum Funeral Home.
Benjamin spent 34 years working for Frito Lay. After retirement, he enjoyed working at the Touchstone Wildlife and Art Museum in Haughton, Louisiana. Benjamin was a man of many talents and interests. He loved going on train rides and fishing. He also knew a lot about classic cars. Benjamin was very outgoing and personable. He could definitely be described as a ‘people person’ who found such joy sharing stories and laughter with others. Life was too short to be too serious and so Benjamin always liked to cut up and joke around with everyone he knew. More than anything in life, he treasured the precious moments he spent with his beloved wife, Clara of 52 years.

Chester Prentice Sanders, Jr., 79, of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully May 30, 2019 in Dallas after a long illness. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
Chet was born June 4, 1939 in Center, Texas, the eldest son of Daliah and Prentice Sanders. He grew up in Center and graduated from Center High School where he continues to give to the Scholarship Foundation. He graduated from the University of North Texas where he was a member of the K A fraternity, and did his post graduate work at the University of Texas in Austin. He them served in the Coast Guard in San Francisco.
Chet had a long rewarding career in the securities business. He was with Underwood New house in Houston and J.C. Bradford in Nashville where he was a partner. They sold to Paine Webber and Co., an investment bank and stock brokerage firm. Chet then retired and moved to Dallas. He continued his passion for art as a collector of patron, and enjoyed being a docent at the Dallas Museum of Art. He was a member of the Dallas Historical Society and was a longtime volunteer at North Dallas Shared Ministries.
Chet also enjoyed reading, bicycling, and staying fit at the Cooper Aerobic Center. He played golf, liked snow skiing and playing the piano.
He is survived by:
Wife, Betty Sanders; step-daughter, Natalie Canterbury and husband Scott; brother, Mike Sanders; nephew, Todd Sanders and wife Joy; niece, Gwyn Katz and husband Greg; and numerous cousins.
Chet’s strong faith that he shared with Betty brought him peace and joy.

Sharon Vaneta Odom, 59, of Joaquin, Texas, passed away on June 11, 2019 in Joaquin. She was born on February 1, 1960 in Center to Mack Gene Odom and Maidland Vaneta Phelps Odom. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Mangum Funeral Home.
Sharon grew up in Logansport, Louisiana and graduated form Logansport High School in 1978. Sharon had a passion for traveling and vacationing to new places. She also enjoyed doing arts and crafts, especially using driftwood to make unique creations. More than anything, Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. Those precious moments spent in conversation and laughter were what she treasured most.
Sharon is survived by her son, John Eric Head; brother, Jason Odom; sisters, Gilma Odom, Maxie Odom and Laura Odom; grandchildren, Eric Alan Head, John Cameron Head and Ashleigh Jade Head.

Maebelle Hughes Yarbrough, 86, of Garrison, Texas passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, in Garrison, Texas. Born February 27, 1933, in Huber Community, Shelby County, Texas, to the late Vesper and Oma (Chapman) Hughes. Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at First Christian Church, Timpson, Texas.
Maebelle grew up in the Huber Community and graduated with the class of 1950 from Timpson High School. After high school, she worked and attended business college and later she enrolled in Stephen F. Austin where she worked for the band director, Jimmy Hudgins and was a member of the SFA Marching Band. She earned a Bachelors of Business Administration and a Teaching Certificate. She spent several years in the late 50s and early 60s teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in Timpson before being hired to teach Business Administration at Garrison High School in 1964. She loved teaching typing, shorthand and bookkeeping. Several of her students medaled at state UIL competition. In 1984, Maebelle became the 1st female principal of Garrison High School where she served for over 6 years.
She married Darrell Grigsby Yarbrough on September 1, 1956, spending more than 37 years with him until his passing in 1994. They adopted two children as babies from Edna Gladney in Fort Worth – Glynn in 1964 and Suzy in 1967. She loved both her children dearly and was always supported of their endeavors.
After husband’s sudden death she was thrust into a career as administrator of the Garrison Nursing Home, which the Yarbrough family owned. She brought a new level of care and service to a nursing home already known for good care and helped, with the assistant of her loving staff, take the Garrison Nursing Home to new heights.
Also, after her husband’s death in 1994, she took over his ranching activities. She certified the herd with the Santa Gertrudis Association and has been known to have one of the best herds of Santa Gertrudis cattle in Texas. Anyone who has driven by can attest to what pretty “red cows” she had.
Maebelle always had a passion for making a difference in the lives of others, and she made that her life’s mission no matter where she happened to be. She was a talented pianist and started playing at the age of eleven at Oak Grove Christian Church, until transferring to the First Christian Church in Timpson later. Maebelle was a member of Eastern Star and was their pianist for many years. Her love for the Lord was evident above all things. She was devoted to God, her church, family and community. A woman who accepted any challenge and excelled at anything she set forth to do, she left an unforgettable imprint on this world that will be a legacy for years to come.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Glynn Yarbrough of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Suzy Galanis and husband George of Dallas, Texas; grandchild, Kathryn Angelica Galanis of Austin, Texas; niece, Margaret Boutte’; and great niece, Michelle Boutte’.
Maebelle is preceded in death by her loving husband, Darrell Grigsby Yarbrough; parents, Vesper and Oma Hughes; and brother, Harold Hughes.

Kenneth Duane Duncan, 58, of Nacogdoches, Texas passed away Monday, June 17, 2019, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Born December 19, 1960, in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late Bobby Ross Duncan and Faye Duncan. Kenneth grew up in Garrison and graduated from Garrison High School. To say he was an avid fisherman would be an understatement. If you were looking for him, the first place to go would be on the water. He was a member of The White Oak Bass Club, Gilmer Bass Club and Spring Hill Bass Club. Kenneth also enjoyed doing karaoke, playing 42, card games and playing Bingo at Nacogdoches Bingo Hall. Grandpa, as his beloved grandchildren referred to him, found no greater joy in any activity than when he spent time with family. His precious grandchildren were the lights of his life. He was a kind, caring and humble man. A devoted and loving husband, compassionate father and doting grandfather, Kenneth will be dearly missed, but the memories made will carry on in those he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife Mindy Duncan; son, Brady Plunkett and wife Randi; daughter, Christina Duncan; brother, Ronnie Kelley and wife Toyya; sisters, Carolyn Watson, Linda Deason and husband Jerry, Elaine Box and husband James; grandparents, Lewis and Pearl Duncan; grandchildren, Collin Carroll, Jakob Duncan, Raynie Carroll, Rylee Stafford; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Barbara Ann Cheshire, 64, of Timpson Texas, passed away on June 19, 2019 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on August 29, 1954 in Center, Texas to Otis Earl Schoubroek and Cola Mae Davis Schoubroek. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Barbara grew up in Center. She met Johnny N. Cheshire and the two were married on September 23, 1971. She loved the outdoors and spent a lot of her time hunting, fishing, working with her plants and riding around. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them and she loved spending as much time as possible with them. Barbara was an easy going, fun-loving and humble woman that brought such joy to her family and friends.

Rowdy Hutchins, 57, of McComb, Mississippi, formerly of Joaquin, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019, in Ohio.

Mr. Hutchins was born March 23, 1962, in Pasadena, Texas, to Darrell Lee Hutchins and Sarah Wynell Wright Hutchins.
Rowdy Hutchins was the oldest son of Darrell and Nell Hutchins. He grew up in Shelby County with his parents, brothers, Jinx and Scott, his beloved grandparents, Ma and DaDa, aunt and uncles, along with many loved cousins.
He graduated from Joaquin High School, very involved in sports, but not so much in academics. Many memories he would share included stories with his cousins and friends as they congregated around Granny’s kitchen counter.
He began his career in the oil field when Uncle Jake got him his first job with Reading & Bates working off shore. Daddy always told funny stories about working with Uncle Jake, Elbert and the rest of the crew. Later in his career he traveled all over the United States with his father, brothers, and friends working in refineries for various construction companies as a Pipe Fitter, later transitioning to a Project Manager. When this work was slow, he worked in the log woods where he made lifelong friends as well.
Traveling away from home to make a living brought about some of the best and worst of times. As our father traveled, he developed a love for history, good food and spending time with his family. Some of our best memories were made on the road. As his family grew, Daddy always made time for his family. He loved us and we knew it. He always had a nickname for our cousins and friends and wanted to make everyone feel welcome, often being told how kindhearted and surprisingly calm he was for such a big man, named "Rowdy."
His love for traveling and new adventures continued up until his most recent days. He shared a life with his wife, Rose, and together they carried on the dream of living each day to the fullest. Always on new adventures as they visited the many historical national parks, unexpected sites of the road and good eatin' joints.
Even though he unexpectedly moved on to his eternal life, we hold on to the fond memories and the love that we shared with him. He loved his family and friends and we know that we will see him again.

Brandon Lee Tenison, 18, of Garrison, Texas passed away on June 15, 2019. Born October 19, 2000. Brandon is the son of Kevin and Kendra (Driscoll) Tenison. Due to inclement weather this morning visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Garrison tonight from 6-8pm. All services for Tenison will be held at the church now. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 2pm at First Baptist Church, 276 W Magnolia Ave., Garrison, Texas with Bro. Jack Brown officiating. Interment will follow in McKnight Cemetery, Cushing, Texas.
Brandon grew up in Garrison and was a Senior at Garrison High School where he was full of Bulldog Pride. An avid football player, being under those Friday night lights and wearing #34 was one of his greatest passions. His love for the game was evident in every down he played. Brandon also really enjoyed spending time outdoors. Much of his spare time was spent hunting and fishing. Even though he was only 18, Brandon was a skilled welder. He had always been fond of tinkering with things and learning such a trade as welding allowed him to put skill and intrigue to work.
Brandon had an energy that radiated onto others and would overflow any room with joy and laughter. He breathed life into his friends, family and those he barely even knew. Brandon had such a warm and welcoming personality that he never met a stranger. He was always selfless and ready to lend a helping hand whenever the occasion was to arise. His enthusiasm and light will shine long after he is gone in the innumerable memories that his family, friends and classmates will treasure for eternity.

Jerry Matlock, 74, passed away June 15, 2019 in Mt. Enterprise. He was born July 17th, 1944 in Mt. Enterprise to Ralph and Mattie B. Nettles Matlock.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10am at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mattie Matlock; brothers Thomas Matlock, Harrison Matlock, Billy Matlock, Terry Matlock and Troy Matlock; and sister Betty Sallee.

Joy Lynn (Eldredge) Parks, 78, of Timpson, Texas entered into eternal life on June 14, 2019 in Timpson, Shelby County, Texas. Born February 20, 1941, in Oklahoma, Joy is the daughter of the late Howard and Myrtle Eldredge. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 12PM – 1:30PM at Taylor Funeral Home, 511 Ross Graves Dr., Timpson, Texas. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 2PM at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Timpson, Texas with Pastor Charleston Johnson officiating.
Joy Lynn Parks was a house-wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She loved using her time to work outside keeping her yard spotless and beautiful, as well as helping raise her grandchildren.
