Gary Belrose, age 69 of Center, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his home.

Services will be 11am, Monday, April 17, 2017 Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Dodson & Bro. Eddie Grimes officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral service starting at 10 am in Mangum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Center.

He was born October 30, 1947 in Galveston, Texas to parents, Travis Woodrow Belrose and Jessie (Whisenhunt) Belrose.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Travis & Jessie Belrose and one brother, Travis “June Bug” Belrose.  He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Mrs. Cooper was born December 12, 1924, in Shelbyville, to Ross Wilson and Irene Permenter Wilson.  She loved hunting, fishing and bowling.

Josephine “Jo” Lawrence Doxtater, 88, of Joaquin, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2017, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Paul Silvey and Bro. Ed Williams officiating. Interment will be held at Cool Springs Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana.

Mrs. Doxtater was born October 11, 1928, in Logansport, Louisiana, to Arthur Joseph Lawrence and Lillie B. Hawthorne Lawrence.  She was a member of Helping Hands and First Baptist Church in Joaquin, where she served as a senior adult Sunday school class teacher for many years.

Harold Gene Richards, 69, of Center, passed away April 5, 2017, at home after a short illness. Mr. Richards moved to Center in 1984 from Beaumont.

Granddaughter: Natalie Marks of Beaumont.

After graduation from South Park High School he served in the US Air Force from 1966 until 1971, serving as B52 crew chief during the Vietnam War. He attended Lamar University and did drafting and designs for Gulf States Utilities and oil engineering until 1980. That year while supervising a turn around in New Orleans, he met his second wife.

He enjoyed many hobbies including playing upright base, gun collecting, restoring antique trucks and high powered rocketry. In his early years he excelled in tennis, golf, bowling, pool, baseball, hunting and rodeo.

Memorial services will be held April 23, 2017 at 2pm. St. John's Episcopal Church in Center. Reception to follow.

Samuel Downing McDaniel, 83, of Austin formerly of Timpson, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Seton Medical Center in Austin.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Timpson with Rev. Wayne Calder officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home.

Sam was born September 25, 1933 in Timpson to Hershal C. McDaniel and Elizabeth (McElfatrick) McDaniel. He graduated from Timpson High School in 1950, served in the US Army, and earned a degree in English from Southern Methodist University.  He earned a law degree from the University of Texas in 1961, and remained in Austin where he was a trial attorney for many years. When he wasn’t working, Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, growing vegetables, and spending time in his workshop.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Hershal C. McDaniel, Mother, Elizabeth (McElfatrick) McDaniel Wright, Step Father, Fred Wright, Uncles& Aunts, Doris (McElfatrick) Wedgeworth, Clarence Downing McElfatrick, Richard & Vivian (Weaver) Menefee and Cousin, Jimmy Sanders.

Funeral services honoring the life of SGM (Ret.) Myron Bounds, 79, will be at 10:30 AM Friday, April 7, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Logansport, LA with Reverend Timothy Roberson officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at NWLA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church in Logansport, LA on April 6, 2017 from 6PM to 8PM for visitation.

Myron was born on November 24, 1937 to Caufman and Geraldine (Davis) Bounds and entered into rest on April 1, 2017. He served 27 years in the United States Army and retired as Sergeant Major.

Preceding Myron in death is his parents, Caufman and Geraldine Davis Bounds; son, Christopher Mark Bounds; brothers, Dean Bounds, Myron Douglas Bounds and stepdad, Pershing M. Bounds.

Earl Wood, age 94, of Center, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Center. A funeral service is scheduled at 11 o’clock in the morning Friday, April 7, 2017 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. He will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery near Rusk.

Earl was born March 5, 1922 in Cornell, WI to James and Edith A. Wood.

Mr. Wood retired from the Civil Service as a Journeyman Machinist and also served in the U.S. Army at Pearl Harbor during WWII as well as in the The Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Robert Wood.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Reba Wood of Center, daughter Debbie Grimes and husband Eddie of Center, sons Doug Wood and wife Sharon of Jacksonville, Dan Wood and wife Anita of Modesto, CA, 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Annie Louise Martin of Garrison, Texas was born May 14, 1919 in Bland Lake Community in San Augustine, County, Texas to John Henry Bland and Meta Lillian (Jones) Bland. She entered into rest on April 3, 2017 in Garrison, Texas having reached the age of 97 years 10 months and 20 days.

Her service will be 10:00 am Friday, April 7, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Garrison, Texas, Bro. John McGuire will officiate, burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Garrison Funeral Home, Garrison, Texas.

Louise was a member of First Baptist Church and the Timpson Area Genealogical and Heritage Society she had been very active in the preparation of the Timpson Area History Book. Louise was the Lions club citizen of the year, member of the John Hancock Daughters of Confederacy, Garrison FFA Alumni, Eastern Star, and Lions Club.

Her survivors are son, Marvin Martin and wife Ladea of Garrison, Texas granddaughters; Tamra O’Reilly and husband Chris of Austin, Texas, Julia Konderla & husband Jeremy of Garrison, Texas and Ashley Harris & husband Matt of Garrison, Texas. Great-Grandchildren, Keegan, Cade, Kai O’Reilly, Aiden, Maci, Jaxon Konderla and Caleb Harris, nephew Bill Bland and wife Marjorie of Dallas, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, John Henry and Meta Lillian Bland, husband Thomas Ernest (Tom) Martin, son; Thomas E. Martin Jr. and brother Clarence Bland. She and Tom was married for 73 years when he passed away.

Frank Smith Humphries, 92, of the Woods Community, passed away on Monday afternoon, April 3, 2017, in Carthage. He was born on Jan. 13, 1925, in Shelby County to the late Charles Edward and Florence Smith Humphries. Mr. Humphries served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Jean Bragg on May 5, 1955, in Shelby County. Mr. Humphries worked as a farmer and rancher in the Woods Community. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lois Bowden, Louise Adams, Ruby Powell, and Earline Burgess; brother, Edward Humphries; and grandchildren, Amanda Maurine and Benjamin Cody Post.

Mr. Humphries is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Bragg Humphries; son Charles Ferrin Humphries and wife Regina of Carthage; daughter, JoAnn Post and husband Eddie of Diana; grandsons, Aaron Humphries of Livingston and David Humphries and wife Sarah of the Woods Community; granddaughter, Hannah Holmes and husband Zach; great-grandchildren, Charles Thomas and Roman David Humphries of the Woods Community; brother-in-law, Wesley Burgess of Dallas; sisters-in-law, Mary Cranford of Frisco and Mattie Hughes of Pasadena; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Woods Cemetery with Chris Burris officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.

Pallbearers are Aaron Humphries, David Humphries, Zach Holmes, Hank Twomey, James Knight, and Tom Knight. Honorary pallbearer is Charlie Humphries.

Reginia Moses Rutherford, 95, of Highland Village, Texas passed away on April 1, 2017 in Highland Village, Texas.  Born February 7, 1922, Reginia Rutherford is the daughter of the late Aaron Burnett and Ruby  (Harrison) Moses.  Graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas with Bro. Dee Daniel officiating.

Doris Willis McGill, 86, of Joaquin, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, in Center.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Mrs. McGill was born November 15, 1930, in Atlanta, Georgia, to John Henry Biles and Lydia Lurlene Miller Biles.  She was of the Assembly of God faith.

Frances Olera “Jackie” Hartt, 86 of Garrison, Texas, passed away March 30, 2017 in Garrison.

She was born November 6, 1930 in Calhoon City, Mississippi to Joseph Franklin Therrell and Lottie Ila “Bryant” Therrell.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Holly Springs Baptist Church, Garrison, Texas. Monday, April 3, 2017 there will be a Celebration of Life service at 1:30 p.m. at the Holly Springs Baptist Church. There will be a private burial.
