During her career she taught elementary education in the Henderson Public School System, Nacogdoches Public Schools and Hudson Public Schools, finally retiring from Brookhollow Elementary in the Lufkin School System. She also belonged to the Angelina Arts Alliance and the Angelina Retired Teachers Association.

Glenda loved Christ, her family, friends, and her community. She was an active member in the Timberland Drive Church of Christ with an unwavering commitment where her husband, Roy, was an elder for over 48 years. She was an exemplary wife, mother and teacher. With unfailing loyalty to all things right, together with her husband of over 60 years, Roy, they raised Jeff and Lori and thoroughly enjoyed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

With wisdom, truth, vision and love she contributed to and shaped the lives of not only her family but everyone she came in contact with, especially in the classroom. Glenda was an educator who lived and taught the Bible in her classroom just as she did in her home and social life. Her sweet smile and demeanor indicated her kind nature and positive attitude, fruits of the Spirit.
