Sue Bradberry Derr Kimbrough, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016, in Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Rob Merriman and Bro. Gordon Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Shelbyville Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Mrs. Kimbrough was born September 7, 1935, in Shelbyville, to John Hulon Bradberry and Ida Lorraine Miles Bradberry. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Shelbyville Chapter and Active in the Center Senior Organization. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Shelbyville.

Harold R. Birdwell, age 88, was born January 20, 1928, in the Chinquapin Community of San Augustine County to Oscar and Nona Lee (Ramsey) Birdwell. He passed from this life unexpectedly at his residence in San Augustine on January 26, 2016.

Mr. Birdwell was a lifelong resident of San Augustine, graduating from San Augustine High School in 1945. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in San Augustine. He was also a member of the National Guards. He began his career with an engineering firm in 1946 and went on to become a surveyor for Temple Lumber Company in Pineland, Texas in 1952. In 1992, after 40 years of service with Temple, he chose to retire. He was also a rancher and poultry farmer, being a hard worker always. He loved hunting and sports, but most of all he doted on his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed and remembered always by his wife, Dorothy Birdwell of Rosevine; son, Robert Birdwell and wife, Kelly of Broaddus; daughters, Brenda Buffington and husband, Joseph of Buna; Mary Lou Rhoades and husband Micheal of Granbury; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Jacobs and wife, Jaleisha of Norfolk, Va.,Ashley Southerland and husband David of Hamilton, Tx., Brett Garrick of Mobile, Al., Kelsey Garrick and husband Steven of Spurger, Tx., and Nico Birdwell and wife Jami of San Augustine, Tx; and great-grandchildren, Michael Jacobs Jr., Alyssa Jacobs, Landon Southerland, Noah Southerland, Aniston Birdwell and Aubrey Birdwell.

Verlene Waselus, 91, of Garrison, Texas passed away on Tuesday January 26, 2016 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on December 3, 1924, in Garrison, Texas, the daughter of Burnie M. Stone and Libbie Crump Stone. Visitation will be held on Saturday January 30, 2016 from 9 am – 10:30 am at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Caledonia Cemetery in Timpson, Texas, with Bro. Leroy Bowley officiating.

Verlene grew up in the Caledonia Communtiy, Rusk County and attended Timpson High School. She later attended beauty school in Lafayette, Louisiana. Verlene had the gift of hospitality. She loved cooking, baking pies, and anything that had to do with hosting others at her home and delivering goodies to her friends and those she loved. Verlene loved crocheting and spending much time outdoors. Her favorite time of year was Christmas when her brothers, sisters, and her children could get together and spend time with one another. She spent many years as a caregiver for others. Verlene was a member of Caledonia Methodist Church. She loved the Lord and her church.

Verlene is survived by her son, Glen Farris and wife Ruby of Longview, Texas; daughter, Susan Nolan and husband Gary of Garrison, Texas; brother, Robert Stone of Bremond, Texas; sister, Ludy Curry of Bremond, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley, Garrett, Christopher, and Danny; great grandchildren, Calvin, CJ, Nate and Kolby; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hollis Farris, Glen Keating, and Peter Paul Waselus; parents; brother, John “Bud” Stone, and sister, Kathryn Holcomb.

Michael Alton Hughes passed away January 26, 2016. He was born on April 13, 1951 in Center, TX to Alton and Betty Hughes.

Michael received his Bachelor’s Degree from Lamar University. He worked his way up in the oil industry to director of marketing at Penrod Oil. Michael founded Martin Hughes Realty with his wife Peggy and partner Janet Martin.

He is survived by his wife, his two sons, Michael Scott and Matthew Wade Hughes, his grandchildren, Megan Loureen and Joshua Scott Hughes, and his brothers David, Mark, and Chris Hughes.

He was proud to follow in his father's footsteps as a Shriner.

A funeral service will be held for Michael at Ted Dickey Funeral Home on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2 PM. There will also be a visitation held at the funeral home the night before the service from 6-8 PM.

Ms. Loveladdy was Vice President of Loveladdy Oil Company. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and an active member of First United Methodist Church in Center.

Dwight M. Hill, 89, of Logansport, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Mr. Hill was born March 15, 1926 in Logan County, Arkansas to George Allen Hill and Lena Corley Hill. He was a sales representative in the poultry industry. Mr. Hill served in the United States Army as a Medic from October 1944 to November 1946. He was a member of the Joaquin Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Shriners Temple and an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Logansport.

Opal Adell (Rousseau) Chandler was born October 24, 1917 in Garrison, Texas to Travis and Pearl (Weatherly) Rousseau. She died January 20, 2016 in Garrison, Texas having reached the age of 98. She married WC “Dock” Chandler on March 24, 1934 at the age of 16. They were married 28 years until his death on October 19, 1962.

Joshua Wayne Kellum, 33, of Timpson, Texas passed away on Tuesday January 19, 2016 in Center, Texas.  He was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on April 5, 1982, the son of James Kellum and Jane Pipes Hoffman.

Josh graduated Timpson High School Class of 2000.  He then went to work logging with his father.  He spent countless hours cutting trees and hauling logs.  Josh enjoyed muddin’ on four-wheelers, fishing, and spending time around a camp fire visiting with family and friends.

Josh is survived by his wife, Candace Johnson Kellum; mother, Janie Hoffman;  son, Jeramie Cain Kellum;  daughter, Janna Darlene Kellum, Bradlee Voiselle; step-children, Jacob, Zackary, Addison, and Piper;  several nieces, nephews, and  cousins, and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Josh was preceded in death by his son, Johnathan Wayne Kellum; and father, James Wesley Kellum.

Mr. Covington was born November 9, 1961, in Nacogdoches, to John Maxie Covington and Joy Hughes Covington. He attended Kilgore College and Stephen F. Austin University. Mr. Covington was a loving husband and a devoted dad. His wife and three boys were the light of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Shelby County Cruisers, NHRA and Center Country Club. Mr. Covington was very active in youth baseball, having coached for several years. He was Vice President of Covington Lumber and Construction Company for thirty-one years.

James Harold Enmon, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016, in The Woodlands.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2016, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Rev. Don Noble officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Mr. Enmon was born December 12, 1933, in Shelbyville, to H. E. Enmon and Era B. Dockens Enmon. He was a member of IBEW Local #479, Sam Houston Masonic Lodge #32 in Shelbyville and Spann’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Center.

He is survived by

Clarine Brimer Akridge, 80, of Nacogdoches, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, in Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Bob Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery in San Augustine County.

Ms. Akridge was born March 16, 1935, in the Zavalla Community of Angelina County, to Earl Brimer and Margaret Jones Brimer. In 1949, she married Virgil E. Akridge. Together, they raised nine children. Ms. Akridge loved her family and friends. Her favorite pastimes included playing Bingo and gardening.
