March 7, 2017 - Desere Cooper qualifed for the State Powerlifting Meet to be held on Saturday, March 18th in Waco, Texas.  At the Regional Meet her lifts totaled 910 pounds, placing her first in the region.  Congratulations Desere and Good Luck! 

March 7, 2017 - The Joaquin Ram baseball game scheduled for today, Tuesday, March 7th has been cancelled as well. 

March 7, 2017 - The Tenaha Tigers Varsity Basketball Team fell to the Grapeland Sandies by a 99-83 margin last Saturday at the Boy’s Region III tournament at Leon Jewett High School Gymnasium. The game was the Regonal Final/ State Quarterfinal round of play.

After a fast start by the Sandies, the Tigers clawed to get back into the game and made a strong comeback in the fourth quarter. Grapeland was able to gain a 31-14 advantage by the end of the first period and they led 48-31 at the midway intermission.

As they had throughout the weekend, the Sandies utilized timely hot streaks on their way to gaining the Division I Class 2A Regional title.

The 2016-17 season ends for the Tigers who ended with a 29-4 season record and their third consecutive Regional finals loss.

March 7, 2017 - The Lady Rams Softball game scheduled for today (03/07/17) has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled for a later date. 

March 6, 2017 - The Lady Dragon Powerlifting team competed in the Regional Powerlifting Meet March 4, 2017 in Fairfield, Texas.  The girls placed Fourth overall as a team.

The medalists are:

1st Place - Regional Champion - Katie Casey
3rd Place - Hannah Hall
4th Place - Kaitlyn Campbell
5th Place  - Kennedey Parker

Also qualifying for State:  Steff Moore, Jaiden Rose and Breanna Jackson.  

The Lady Dragons will complete at State on March 17-18 in Waco, Texas.  Congratulations Ladies!!  We are Dragon Proud!

March 6, 2017 - Several Center Roughrider boys basketball players received top honors in the All District selections including Jaterious Evan who was awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Reggie Daniels, Jr. who was selected as the Newcomer of the Year. Coach of the Year honors goes to Coach Hiram Harrison.

March 4, 2017 - The Tenaha Tigers defeated the Italy Gladiators 92-67 in Region 3 Semi-Final game to advance; however, the Gladiators come away heroes of the game with an inspiring display of sportsmanship.

In the final period, the Tenaha Tigers brought in player #33, Ferdaveion Thomas, who is a special needs teammate to give him a chance to play. When he got the ball to take a shot at the basket, a penalty was called on him and his chance was gone… or so it seemed.

The players on the Italy team then became determined to allow #33 to have his shot… literally and once he made his shot, Italy’s players continued to feed him the ball an additional three times before the game ended as a Italy player attempted a half-court shot just for good measure.

Coaches, parents, and teachers attempt to teach kids good sportsmanship but don’t aways truly get to see if the lesson took. All the players showed great sportmanship in Friday's game.

Shelby County Today gives a standing ovation to the Italy Gladiators for their inspiring display of character. Congratulations to the Tenaha Tigers on a great win and for supporting your whole team!

March 3, 2017 - The Dragons play Grapeland tonight at 5:00 pm at Leon High School. Shelbyville students gathered outside to send off the boys on their trip to the 2A Regional Semi-Finals Tournament with signs, cheers, and lots of school spirit. We are proud of you!

March 3, 2017 - New information just in regarding student ticket prices. Ages 3 through 18 will be charged $5 per session for entry to the tournament. The Roughriders are playing in the Region Basketball Tournament at Texas A&M Commerce, March 3rd and March 4th.

March 1, 2017 - The Shelbyville Dragons will play Friday, March 3 at 5:00 pm vs Grapeland in Jewitt-Leon, TX in the 2A Regional Semi-Finals Tournament. Shelbyville ISD will early release Friday at 1:00 pm for the Basketball Playoff game.
